Anjanette Cabeza, DVM

Born and raised in Panama, Dr. Anjanette Cabeza began working in the veterinary field at the age of 12 as a volunteer at a U.S. military clinic in Corozal, Panama. She later moved to the U.S. to attend Colorado State University to complete her undergraduate studies. She graduated from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in 1994 with the Upjohn Award of Proficiency in small animal medicine. Dr. Cabeza has 20 years of experience in small animal medicine and surgery, with her primary interest in internal medicine.

Dr. Cabeza has a set of twins, Ashley and William. She also owns a few pets, a border collie named Misty, a cat named Tiger & Slushy, and fish.

Dr. Cabeza came up with the idea for Miami’s Woodland Lodge Pet Resort because she saw the need for a place where she felt comfortable leaving her own pets when going out of town. Like most pet owners, she wanted her pets to feel safe and well cared when boarding, and she hoped they would be able to actually enjoy themselves while she was away.

The outdoorsy, Colorado-themed resort idea stemmed from her dream to design a place that was truly for dogs. Rather than feeling like pet owners were dropping their pets off to be caged, she wanted them to have a true vacation destination for their pets. It was also her vision to share luxuries such as spacious rooms, a pool, and a yard area to those near the city and the Miami International Airport.
